Shiraz Art History

The history of 14th-century Persian painting is the story of its encounter with Chinese art; it gradually assimilated this influence, partly thanks to the Il-Khans, who built upon the solid foundations of the country’s ancient culture.

Our Mission & Values

The idea of creating a new art museum in Shiraz dates back to the time when its founder was studying art abroad. The museum was established in the heart of Shiraz, in a traditional neighborhood, within a residence that once belonged to a noble family of the Zand dynasty. The building has preserved traces of the city’s historic architecture through the generations. With its magnificent architectural details, the structure itself stands as a remarkable example of Shiraz architecture. To house the museum’s collections, significant parts of this historic residence were renovated without compromising its original character.
